You’re Never too Young to Start
TSL Physio is open to clients of all ages, from the youngest little babies to the older teenagers and beyond we are here to help you! Many of our young clients find themselves in pain while playing sports or studying while others complain of irritation during every day activities. Our physiotherapists look closely at balance, posture, co-ordination as well as gross and fine motor skills to help reach a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. Our goal at TSL Physio is to help relieve pain and equip clients with the knowledge they need to prevent the problem from returning.
What Can My Child Gain From Physiotherapy?
Many children who complain of pain, stiffness, and irritation can benefit greatly from a physiotherapy assessment. During this time the physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment and gather a detailed history to help design their treatment plan. Each treatment plan is created with the client at the centre, this means the plan is unique to the individual and will target their specific needs. During each session the physiotherapist will give their client stretches and exercises to work on at home to help relieve the symptoms they have been experiencing. Each time they come back these stretches and exercises will be reviewed to see if they need help or are ready to progress to the next level. Setting and reaching these types of goals helps the client feel a sense of accomplishment and pride allowing them to have an active role in their own rehabilitation.
What Can My Child and I Expect From A Physiotherapy Session?
A paediatric physiotherapy session is not very different from a regular physiotherapy session. After an initial assessment the physiotherapist will explain their findings and make sure you understand the underlying cause of the problem. They will then perform some hands on treatment or avail of some modalities like heat, ice, TENS, or ultrasound. After the treatment they will go through the home exercise program they created for you and will talk through strategies to help prevent this problem from reoccurring in the future.
